26-27 Career Ambassador (PACE)

Description:

The Career Ambassador Program is a new peer education and leadership initiative of the PACE Center designed to expand access to career development across Saint Mary’s. Career Ambassadors (CAs) will be trained as peer educators to engage in career development with fellow students, encourage reflection and exploration, and connect students with resources for success in their professional journeys. CAs are not expected to be career experts. They will learn to provide foundational career education, direct students to resources, and recognize when a student should be referred to a professional career advisor. 

Benefits: 

CAs will be offered unique opportunities for professional development during their time in the program. They will develop their skills in peer-to-peer coaching, leadership, team building, networking, and presentation skills. CAs will have monthly check-ins with their supervisor to develop and refine their career growth goals. Each CA will develop a professional portfolio documenting their growth, including career materials, training certificates, reflections, and evidence of accomplishments. This portfolio will help students articulate their transferable skills to future employers and graduate programs.

 Responsibilities: 

* Provide peer-to-peer guidance during walk-in hours and outreach activities. 

* Help students navigate PACE Center services and resources, including Handshake and The Bridge. 

* Provide foundational assistance with resumes, LinkedIn profiles, interviewing, networking, internship searching, and job searching using PACE-approved resources and training. 

* Recognize when students need individualized support and refer them to professional career advisors or appropriate campus resources.

 * Support career fairs, employer meetups, workshops, networking events, mentorship programming, and career pop-ups. Welcome and engage students, employers, alumnae, faculty, and staff at PACE Center events. 

* Develop relationships with student organizations and campus partners to expand outreach. 

* Provide feedback to help shape and improve the inaugural Career Ambassador Program.

Qualifications:

* Sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate student with at least one year remaining at the College. 

* Strong interpersonal and communication skills when engaging with individuals and groups. 

* Dependability, professionalism, initiative, and follow-through. 

* Willingness to learn, receive feedback, and continuously develop professional skills.

 * Enjoy helping others with an interest in peer leadership and career development. 

* Ability to work effectively with students from a variety of backgrounds, majors, and interests. 

* Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries and confidentiality.

Hiring Process: Applicants will submit a resume and cover letter describing their interest in the Career Ambassador Program and how they would contribute to peer career education at Saint Mary’s. Selected applicants will be invited to participate in an in-person interview with the PACE Center team.

Preferred Schedule:

CAs will work approximately 8–10 hours per week, including required training, scheduled peer education hours, PACE Center events
