We are seeking a highly motivated Spring Co-op to join our mRNA Drug Substance Process Characterization Data Analytics and Visualization team.

This role focuses on developing tools and workflows to analyze, visualize, and streamline analytical data generated in support of mRNA drug substance process development. You will work closely with a team of scientists responsible for routine and development-stage analytical assays, including HPLC, LC–MS, ELISA, qPCR, and electrophoretic methods. The primary goal of this internship is to improve how analytical data is processed, interpreted, and communicated—enabling faster decision-making and increased throughput. This is a hands-on role at the intersection of analytical chemistry/biochemistry and data science, with opportunities to directly impact development decisions, lab operations, assay performance tracking, and data integrity.

Main Responsibilities

• Design and implement data analysis and visualization tools for analytical datasets (e.g., HPLC, LC–MS, ELISA, qPCR).

• Build automated workflows for data ingestion, cleaning, and transformation from instrument outputs or shared databases.

• Develop intuitive data visualization dashboards (e.g. Power BI) for assay output, performance, trends, and control.

• Support statistical analysis of assay performance (e.g., accuracy, precision, linearity).

• Collaborate with scientists to understand pain points and translate them into practical data-based solutions.

• Document tools and workflows for internal use and scalability.

About You

Basic Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a Master’s or PhD in: Biochemistry, Chemical Biology, Analytical Chemistry, Bioengineering, Data Science, or related field.

• Must be permanently authorized to work in the U.S. and not require sponsorship of an employment visa (e.g., H-1B or green card) at the time of application or in the future. Students currently on CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT usually require future sponsorship for long term employment and do not meet the Internal requirements for this program unless eligible for an alternative long-term status that does not require company sponsorship.

• Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university throughout the duration of the co-op/internship. 

• Must be able to relocate to the office location and work 40hrs/week, Monday to Friday for the full duration of the co-op/internship.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Strong quantitative background with experience in data analysis, statistics and visualization.

• Proficiency in at least one of the following: Python (pandas, numpy, matplotlib/seaborn, plotly), R (tidyverse, ggplot2) and MATLAB.

• Ability to work with structured and semi-structured data.

• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

• Effective communication skills, with the ability to translate technical results to non-experts.

• Experience working with analytical laboratory data, such as: Chromatography (HPLC/UPLC)/ LC–MS/ or plate-based assays

• Familiarity with analytical software platforms (e.g., Chromeleon, OpenLab, MassHunter, SoftMax Pro).

• Experience with scientific data pipelines or ETL workflows.

• Knowledge of assay validation principles (e.g., ICH Q2 guidelines)

• Experience with: Building dashboards (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Dash, Streamlit), time-series analysis or process monitoring and handling large datasets or high-throughput workflows.

• Exposure to biologics or mRNA-related analytical methods.

• Interest in laboratory operations, automation, or workflow optimization.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $35.00 -$58.00 hourly. All compensation will be determined commensurate with demonstrated experience.
