The USGA is a mission-based golf organization whose purpose is to unify the golf community through handicapping and grassroots programs; to showcase the game’s best talent through the U.S. Open, U.S. Women’s Open and 13 other national championships and our museum; to provide unbiased global governance with The R&A through the playing, equipment and Amateur Status rules; and to advance issues important to golf’s future, with a focus on driving sustainability, accessibility and inclusion. About this role:

The Long-Term Ticket Operations and Accreditation Intern assists with all aspects of the ticket, credential and overall admission operation for various USGA Championships. Responsibilities include leading customer service efforts, production of credentials, group ticket sales and reporting. Those within this role assist with all ticket administration duties, learn ticket strategies, and focus on providing extraordinary service to enhance the guest experience. This internship requires traveling to various USGA Championships for extended periods of time, including but not limited to the U.S. Open and U.S. Women’s Open. When on-site, this role requires managing admissions gates and hospitality venues for extended periods of time to enforce admissions policies and assist with entry procedures. You will also assist in box office operations including selling tickets, resolution, access control and will-call.

This is a paid internship, working Monday - Friday, from 9am – 4pm beginning in January 2027 through July 2027. This position follows a  hybrid schedule in Liberty Corner, NJ, with travel required on-site for various 2027 USGA Championships. Anticipated travel is approximately 30 days between May and June. Hours and days will increase while on-site at USGA Championships, including evening and weekends.

What you’ll do:

  • Serve as the point of contact for mobile ticket resolution for various groups including general fans, USGA staff, hospitality clients, players, volunteers and vendors
  • Learn the SeatGeek ticketing platform. Duties will include investigating purchases and assisting with account questions by mastering the Unify platform. You may also assist with the creation of ticket offers within the platform.
  • Learn Freshworks, our customer service platform. Duties will include updating chatbot information, answering mobile ticket questions including but not limited to transferring, upgrading, and resale assistance. You must be comfortable responding to inquiries via email, phone and chat in a timely manner
  • Create public resources including tutorials and guides, knowledgebase articles, and FAQs
  • Produce and maintain accurate records, lists and reports surrounding various topics such as ticket utilization, scanning data, and customer service volume
  • Participate in group sales efforts, working directly with bulk ticket buyers
  • Learn the credential platform, Accredit Solutions, to assign access codes, approve headshot photos, and produce credentials
  • While on-site, manage ticket sales through SeatGeek's Virtual Box Office, distribute credentials at Will Call, and provide exceptional customer service by resolving ticketing and access-related issues
  • Work closely with other departments including marketing, championship administration and operations, and hospitality to provide fan feedback and drive guest experience
  • Manage gate operations while on-site, upholding USGA policies and working in tandem with security, volunteers and vendors
  • Able to work long hours, nights and/or weekends as necessary for weeks at a time
  • Travel will primarily be during the months of May, June and early July

Pay: $17.50/hr., subject to applicable overtime laws.

Internship Dates: January 12, 2027, through July 15, 2027

Where you'll be: 

  • This role will be based at our Liberty Corner, NJ campus on a hybrid schedule. Employees are required to spend 3 days per week working in the office, between Monday - Thursday. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are mandatory in-office community days. Employees can choose between Monday or Thursday as their third in-office day. Please note that housing is not provided for interns working in the NJ office.
  • When traveling for USGA business, all housing, meals, and transportation will be provided and/or reimbursed by the USGA.
  • Extensive travel is required during Championship weeks in May and June. When traveling on-site, team members will surpass 70+ hours per Championship week. Travel may be continuous for multiple weeks, including weekends and holidays. 

What you bring: 

  • Familiarity with live events, ticketing, customer service and/or operations
  • Enthusiastic about bringing new ideas to the team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Expertise in Excel and reporting is a plus
  • Ability to lift 25+ pounds
  • Strong customer service skills in addition to being a vocal communicator with clear and professional phone manners
  • Evidence of written communication skills, with ability to collect, analyze and relay information in a detailed manner
  • Ability to work independently and in a close team setting for a long period of time
  • Organized and detail oriented
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment at a consistent, efficient pace
  • Shows situational management and can assist with guests while under pressure and maintaining a calm demeanor 
  • Golf knowledge a plus
