Job Summary: 

The Driver is responsible for the safe, timely, and professional transportation of materials, parts, products, and other business-related items between company facilities, suppliers, vendors, and other designated locations. The primary responsibility of this position is performing scheduled and unscheduled pickups and deliveries in support of manufacturing and business operations. 

This position requires regular local and regional travel, including interstate driving between Indiana, Illinois with routine trips to vendors and suppliers throughout the greater Chicago area along with other states as needed. The Driver must be comfortable operating a company vehicle in urban, suburban, highway, and interstate driving conditions and must maintain a safe driving record at all times.

Duties/Responsibilities: 

Safely operate company vehicles to perform pickups and deliveries to suppliers, vendors, customers, company facilities, and other designated locations. 

Regularly travel between Indiana and Illinois, including driving throughout the greater Chicago metropolitan area. 

Operate company vehicles on interstate highways, toll roads, local streets, and other roadways as required to complete assigned routes. 

Follow assigned pickup and delivery schedules while adjusting routes appropriately for traffic, weather, construction, and changing business priorities. 

Load, unload, secure, and transport materials, parts, products, containers, and other items in a manner that prevents damage or loss during transportation. 

Safely operate a forklift and other approved material-handling equipment, as required, to load and unload company vehicles, receive incoming deliveries, move materials, and stage freight in designated areas. 

Verify materials and documentation at the time of pickup and delivery to ensure quantities, destinations, and other information are accurate. 

Obtain required signatures, receipts, bills of lading, packing slips, or other documentation associated with pickups and deliveries. 

Communicate promptly with the appropriate company personnel regarding delays, delivery issues, vehicle concerns, or changes to assigned routes. 

Perform routine pre-trip and post-trip inspections of company vehicles and report maintenance or safety concerns immediately. 

Maintain company vehicles in a clean, safe, and professional condition. 

Follow all applicable traffic laws, company safety requirements, and vehicle operating procedures. 

Maintain appropriate confidentiality and security of company, customer, and vendor materials while in transit. 

Assist Shipping & Receiving or other operational areas with material handling, staging, forklift operation, loading, unloading, or related duties when not actively performing pickups or deliveries. 

Distribute received goods to the appropriate department, work area, or individual who ordered or requested the items in a timely manner. 

Maintain flexibility in daily assignments based on production schedules, supplier requirements, and changing operational needs. 

Perform other duties as assigned in support of business operations. 

Required Skills/Abilities:  

A valid driver's license is required. 

Must maintain an acceptable driving record and remain eligible to operate company vehicles under company insurance requirements. 

Ability to safely operate a forklift and obtain/maintain company-required forklift operator certification 

Ability and willingness to regularly drive across state lines, including between Indiana and Illinois. 

Ability and willingness to drive in the greater Chicago metropolitan area, including highways, toll roads, and high-traffic environments. 

Ability to safely operate the type(s) of company vehicles assigned to the position. 

Ability to read and follow maps, GPS navigation, delivery instructions, and routing information. 

Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately handle shipping and delivery documentation. 

Dependable attendance and punctuality are essential due to scheduled vendor pickups, deliveries, and production requirements. 

Ability to communicate professionally with employees, suppliers, vendors, customers, and other business partners. 

Ability to work independently and make reasonable decisions regarding routing, traffic conditions, and delivery priorities. 

Must comply with all company safety, security, and vehicle-use policies. 

Education and Experience: 

High school diploma or GED preferred. 

Previous experience in a delivery, courier, material handling, shipping/receiving, or professional driving position preferred.

Ability to frequently enter and exit a company vehicle throughout the workday. 

Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials associated with pickups and deliveries.

Ability to work in varying environmental and weather conditions during pickups and deliveries. 

Ability to maintain sufficient vision, hearing, mobility, and coordination to safely operate a motor vehicle and perform assigned duties.
