ClickASnap Review: How This Paid Photo Sharing Site Works

ClickASnap is an online photo sharing platform where photographers get paid when other users view their photos. It’s a cross between stock photo sites like Unsplash and visual inspiration sites like Dribbble.

It’s free for anyone to look through the photos on ClickASnap. Visitors can view, like, comment on, and share the link to photos. You can also offer digital downloads of your photos, either for free or at a cost.

What makes ClickASnap different from other photo storage, sharing, and inspiration sites is that they pay their photographers royalties based on image views. So think of it as a digital portfolio that you can monetize.

Is ClickASnap legit?

ClickASnap does appear to be a legitimate business, but there is cause for concern. You’ll find many ClickASnap reviews from photographers who have all made the same complaints about the platform taking their money and never giving them what they’re owed. They believe that ClickASnap is a scam.

There are reviews from photographers who’ve claimed to have made money on the platform, so it appears to be a legitimate service. However, the complaints are serious enough to serve as a warning.

Here’s the basic gist of what photographers warn happens on ClickASnap:

• You pay for a membership.
• You upload photos onto ClickASnap.
• You start to generate sufficient views to meet the payment threshold.
• You go to cash out and your account is suddenly banned.
• You lose all of your uploaded content and receive no payment.
• No reason or forewarning is provided by ClickASnap.

Some photographers have received responses from ClickASnap through the website or online review sites. ClickASnap almost always claims the same thing: that their views were gained through fraudulent means. However, most of these photographers deny violating the platform’s terms and conditions by exchanging or begging for likes.

Another worrying feature is ClickASnap’s limited user support. We reached out to ClickASnap directly to clarify some of the terms of their services, including their fees and pay rates, and never received a response. Considering the concerning complaints from users combined with the radio silence from customer support, we can’t confidently speak to the platform’s legitimacy.

Who can use ClickASnap?

You do not need to be a professional photographer to use ClickASnap. The platform accepts photos from anyone who signs up.

The only requirement you personally need to meet is that you must be at least 18 years old or have an adult representative who uses the website and manages the profile on your behalf. If you’re a minor whose profile is being managed by an adult, there’s no minimum age requirement you need to meet.

Photo requirements

Your photos must meet certain quality requirements to be eligible for earning on ClickASnap. Proper resolution, clear focus, and good lighting are a must. ClickASnap also has requirements related to what you photograph and how you use the website to promote your work.

Here’s a rundown of ClickASnap’s photo regulations:

• Only upload photos you own.
• AI-generated photos are okay.
• Do not do a photo dump of the same basic image.
• Each photo should have some sort of artistic intent.
• Images containing illegal imagery or activities are prohibited.

ClickASnap offers photographers a place to store their photos and earn a small amount of passive income based on the number of times other users stop to view their photos. However, it’s a little more complicated than that. Here’s an overview of what to expect when you use ClickASnap to get paid for your pictures.

Costs and fees

ClickASnap has a free account option for photographers as well as several paid membership options. Unfortunately, their website is out of date and contains a lot of conflicting information, so it’s impossible to know exactly how much a membership costs without signing up.

We reached out to ClickASnap twice in an attempt to clarify their fees and received no response. This makes it impossible to decide whether ClickASnap is worth the cost. The table below shows what appear to be ClickASnap’s most recent fees.

ClickASnap Membership Fees and Features

ClickASnap will mainly serve as a place to upload your photos and to reach a new audience who’s interested in high-quality photography. If you want to unlock the Paid Per View benefit, then you need to pay for a membership.

Paid Per View

Unlike stock photography sites where photographers earn money when people license their photos, ClickASnap photographers earn money when visitors view them. Their website claims you can earn up to $0.009 per view, but many users report earning much less than this.

Although ClickASnap used to offer a low pay rate on free accounts in 2023, they updated their pay per view policy in July 2024 so that you won’t be able to earn money unless you pay for a membership.

Unfortunately, much of the information you can find on their website about their pay rates appears to be out of date. Different pages on their website claim you can earn $0.0015 per view and $0.004 per view. As far as we can tell, their current pay rates are actually $0.007–$0.009 per view, depending on your membership plan.

There are certain requirements that need to be met in order for the view to qualify for payment:

• The photo must be viewed for at least 5 seconds.
• The image has to remain in focus during those 5 seconds.
• The photo must be viewed by a real person, not a bot.
• Owner views do not count.
• Click Circle views do not count.
• Incentivized (i.e,. paid or requested) views do not count.

A Click Circle is defined as a group of photographers who have banded together and agreed to view each other’s content. ClickASnap may take any available opportunity to deny you payment, so it’s important to carefully review the Paid Per View policy to ensure you can earn.

Getting paid for AI photos

ClickASnap allows users to upload AI images. However, you must meet the following additional requirements to qualify for payment for AI-generated images:

• Have a valid Pro membership with a yearly subscription.
• Provide email confirmation showing receipt of purchase for the AI tools used to create the image.
• Provide the seed imagery used in the uploaded image file.

You are responsible for reaching out to ClickASnap and providing proof of the last two points for every AI-generated photo you want to be paid for. The company will not prompt you to provide these details.

ClickASnap Shop

Another way to make money on ClickASnap is to start an online shop. This feature allows you to sell physical products featuring your photos, similar to how print-on-demand shops like Zazzle work. The entire process has been powered by Merchr since the ClickASnap Shop relaunch in December 2023.

Here’s how it works:

1. Create a ClickASnap Shop through Merchr and then log in to your account.
2. Click the “Products” tab and then click the “Create Product” button.
3. Choose the type of product you want to sell from the list of options.
4. The platform provides you with a selection of your ClickASnap photos as well as other graphics and design tools.
5. Select a photo from your ClickASnap account and drag it to the “Print Area.”
6. Adjust your photo size and add customizations if you’d like.
7. Set a price for the product.
8. Merchr handles order fulfillment when a customer purchases one of your products, including packaging and shipping.

ClickASnap used to also let you sell your photos as digital downloads. They have temporarily suspended digital download selling, but it seems that they will bring this feature back at some point in the future.

Rights to your photos

Any photos you upload to the platform remain your property. However, to use ClickASnap’s services, you must agree to grant them a worldwide, nonexclusive, sub-licensable, and transferable license.

Locations

You can use ClickASnap in many countries worldwide. However, photographers in Egypt, India, and Pakistan cannot use ClickASnap.

If you want to get paid for photo views on ClickASnap, here’s how to get started:

1. Go to the ClickASnap.com homepage.
2. Click “Sign Up.”
3. Enter your basic account details.
4. Choose a unique display name.
5. Create a short bio.
6. Upload a profile photo and background image for your page.
7. Click “Continue” to use the service for free or choose a paid subscriber plan.

To upload photos to ClickASnap, click the purple “Upload” button. You can drag-and-drop or upload up to 10 images at a time from your device. Images must be saved in JPEG, PNG, or WebP format.

ClickASnap’s motto is “it pays to share.” Users have conflicting views on whether ClickASnap truly lives up to this promise. The bottom line is that ClickASnap does appear to pay photographers who have a paid membership and follow the rules for photo monetization.

Even if you don’t make a lot of money from ClickASnap, it’s safe to say that what you do earn will be passive. However, there are some things you should be aware of before paying for a membership so you can activate ClickASnap earnings.

How much you can earn

According to ClickASnap, photographers earn anywhere in the range of $0.007–$0.009 per view. So let’s say your photos have accumulated 1,000 qualified views. That means you’ll make between $7 and $9.

While ClickASnap promotes Pro users’ photos on the home page, they currently don’t do any other marketing. You’re encouraged to spend time viewing other people’s work, and you’ll need to promote your own photos, but not in ways that violate the terms of use.

Payment methods

ClickASnap only pays photographers via PayPal. To request a payout, you must meet the $15 minimum threshold.

Once you’re eligible to collect your ClickASnap earnings, go to your settings in the app and “Uploads.” Then click “Withdraw.” ClickASnap guarantees that you’ll receive your payment within 24 hours.

ClickASnap has mostly negative reviews. Most complaints concern these core issues:

• Refusal to pay photographers
• Sudden banning of accounts
• Automatic renewal of yearly subscriptions without warning or refunds
• Misleadingly low pay rates

From these complaints, it’s easy to see why so many people say ClickASnap is a scam. However, there are quite a few positive or even middling reviews claiming that ClickASnap is a completely legit and useful platform—as long as you fully understand the terms.

It seems that many of the main causes of dissatisfaction among ClickASnap users are due to misaligned expectations about what the platform does. The ClickASnap reviews below offer a deeper look into the legitimacy of the platform and whether or not it’s worth it.

Case A:

“It’s very difficult to make a significant about of money and there are many misleading ads out there. IF you registered for the highest paid version you are getting just under a Penny for each legitimate view. A legitimate view means someone clicked on your picture and kept it open for at least five full seconds. You’ll need a little over 100 clicks to make a dollar. You can’t withdrawal any money till you have at least $15 in your account. If you have the free version, you will get 1/10th of a penny for each view, so that’s A LOT of clicks to get up to $15.00. All that said if you have great pictures and a good social media following you can build up clicks pretty fast, but again, I wouldn’t expect to make much of an income. It’s a great way to store and share your photos though.”

Case B:

“After one month I saw that I generated approx 18$ a month. That is around 2570 Paid Views (the total of views was 41 000). It ain’t much but it’s coffee money.

“Once your earned revenue is above 15$ you can request it paid. Guess what happened!

“I got accused of ‘fraudulent views.’” […]

“RULES LEARNED:

“1 Don’t sign for more than one month at a time in case they decide to do the same trick on you. Then you can bail out with only 2$ loss (the lowest subscription per month). Never ever pay the annual subscription! There is no refund from these guys.

“2 If you are signing up to clickasnap because you want income of dollars rather than outcome (honestly there is better picture storage options out there if you’re just looking for that), then make sure you have or have good plan to achieve a decent amount of views. In my example 41k views over time = 2,5K Paid views. The numbers are extreme. No ordinary person can achieve this amount of views without a large social network. You need quantity!

“I don’t recommend clickasnap. They seem top put themselves over the customer. That is my experience. You get pretty pissed off when this happens to you.”

Case C:

“I’ve tried this site/app, influenced by the many ads I’ve seen and they’re basically false. One of the first things you see while browsing on their homepage is the fact that you’ll get paid 0.40cents per view and all you have to do is simply sign up and start uploading. All good right? Well from the 9th of July they removed the possibility for free accounts to earn from uploads, saying that in order to earn per view, you need to subscribe to one of their plans. […] But the disturbing thing is the fact that even subscribing to the most expensive plan, you’ll only be able to earn 0.09 cents per views. So while in their ads, you’ll only need about 38 views to earn 15$, in reality you need at least 200.”

Case D:

“I started mid-March, so today is my 3rd month & my 3rd payout is all approved, so it is not a scam. You will be paid but you will also not get rich like other TikToker’s false Ads.

CAS is a great platform where you can find beautiful photos of various talents that have a passion for photography. I am happy that I joined and am a member of this growing platform.” (Trustpilot)

If your primary goal is to earn money from your photography, then no—ClickASnap probably isn’t worth it. Ultimately, you shouldn’t view ClickASnap as a money-making site. Instead, treat it as a community-building photo hosting platform where you may occasionally get a small bit of extra cash for photo views.

ClickASnap may provide you with a way to generate passive revenue from your photos, but you’ll likely only see tiny earnings. And you may not get paid at all—photographers seem to have serious issues with ClickASnap labeling their views as fraudulent and subsequently banning them from the platform.

The main advantage is that ClickASnap can be a good way to put yourself out there and get feedback or exposure for your photos, particularly if you’re only just starting your journey toward becoming a photographer. So long as you take high-quality photos, the company doesn’t care if you’re an amateur or a pro.

Understand the risks of a yearly subscription

Enough photographers have left ClickASnap reviews lamenting about the automatic (and nonrefundable) renewal of annual fees that it’s worth thinking twice before you take the plunge and get a yearly membership.

If you’re interested in trying ClickASnap out, it might be safest to start with a monthly membership instead and see how it goes.
