Job Description:
The Town of Bennett is seeking a highly motivated and organized Temporary Administrative Support Specialist to provide essential support for both the Public Works department and Town events. This role is designed to ensure uninterrupted services and project continuity during staffing transitions or leaves of absence and requires someone with a strong sense of initiative, attention to detail and a service-oriented mindset to support both internal staff and the public effectively.
The timeframe for the temporary position is May to October 2025 but there is a possibility for full time employment at the Town following that time, pending budget and position availability.
The pay for this position is $25.00 per hour. Temporary employees may be eligible for limited benefits depending on the duration and work schedule.

· Manages clerical tasks for Public Works, including mail and phone communication.
· Oversees operations related to the Bennett Community Garden and cemetery plot administration.
· Supports procurement by obtaining bids, ordering supplies/uniforms, and managing P-Card reconciliation.
· Coordinates the on-call schedule, board agenda items, and interdepartmental meetings.
· Maintains compliance tasks such as backflow letter administration and state reporting for water/wastewater.
· Tracks and manages departmental inspections, safety meetings, and facility rentals.
· Utilizes tools such as Caselle, Smartsheet, and Google Suite for documentation and scheduling.
· Regularly performs excellent customer service.
· Answers and screens Town telephone calls.
· Orders supplies for staff and keeps stock well maintained.
· Helps with event coordination and clerical task support.
· Greets scheduled visitors and conducts them to appropriate area or person.
· Acts as a backup for front desk staff when needed.
· Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
· Excellent communication—both verbal and written.
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and office software.
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
· Customer service-oriented with a compassionate and friendly demeanor.
· Familiarity with municipal operations is a plus.
· Flexibility to support occasional after-hours events.
Education or Formal Training:
High school degree; minimum two years of related experience and training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certificates and Licenses:
Valid Colorado’s Driver’s License.
Work Environment:
General office environment but may require visits to locations outside of Town Hall or NOMCOM. Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit.
