A Day in the life of a Developmental Interventionist:
As a Developmental Interventionist, you'll work closely with children using an approach called DIR®/Floortime™. This model focuses on building strong, supportive relationships and helping each child grow in their own unique way.
In your sessions, you’ll follow the child’s lead—joining their play and expanding on what they’re interested in. This helps them grow socially, emotionally, and intellectually while having fun and feeling safe.
You might use toys, games, music, movement, or hands-on activities to work on important life skills like self-care, communication, social interaction, and emotional expression. Every session is tailored to the child’s stage of development and personal goals.
Your day will include:
- Building strong relationships with clients and their families
- Creating a positive, flexible, and supportive environment
- Encouraging communication, play, and emotional growth
- Celebrating progress, big or small, every step of the way
We use a person-centered approach, which means we respect each child’s individuality, offer choices, and empower them to take part in their own journey. With empathy and creativity, you'll help them achieve meaningful milestones and feel proud of their progress.
